At the Endicott Police Department, we have 3 of our
full-time patrol officers assigned to Bike Patrol. These officers
possess specialized training in area including bike operation, vehicle
and traffic enforcement and other patrol functions. Bike Patrol
officers also conduct bike rodeos and bike inspections at scheduled
community service functions.
We utilize the bicycle patrol in problem areas where we regularly recieve complaints involving loud music, parties or disorderly behavior. Officers assigned to patrol vehicles could not normally get close enough to many of these areas without being observed, but with the assistance of the bicycle patrol, we can more effectively address these types of complaints.
