Explore Local History During Path Through History Weekend
The Village of Endicott is encouraging residents and visitors to take part in New York State's Path Through History Weekend on June 20 and 21, 2026, as communities across the state commemorate America's 250th anniversary.
Path Through History Weekend highlights the people, places, and events that have shaped New York's rich history. Throughout Broome County, museums, historic sites, cultural organizations, and community partners will open their doors and host special programs designed to connect visitors with the region's past.
As part of the celebration, Endicott's historic George W. Johnson Park Carousel will welcome visitors on both Saturday and Sunday from noon to 7:45 p.m. Located at 201 Oak Hill Road, the carousel remains one of the community's most treasured landmarks and a lasting symbol of the area's history and tradition.
Built during the era of Endicott Johnson's growth and prosperity, the carousel continues to serve as a gathering place for families while preserving an important piece of local heritage. During Path Through History Weekend, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy the carousel and learn more about its role in the history of Endicott and the Southern Tier.
In addition to the George W. Johnson Park Carousel, visitors can explore a variety of events and attractions throughout Broome County, including guided tours, museum programs, historical presentations, and family-friendly activities hosted by local organizations and cultural institutions.
The event is part of New York State's America 250 initiative, which encourages communities to celebrate the nation's semiquincentennial through education, civic engagement, and recognition of local history.
Residents interested in participating can view a complete schedule of events and participating locations by visiting Broome County's Path Through History webpage at www.broomecountyny.gov/paththroughhistory.
